Who might be able to join this trial:
- You are able to understand and agree to participate in the study on your own
- You are 55 years of age or older (male or female)
- You are able to complete all movement and balance tests without using a walking aid (such as a cane or walker)
- You have been officially diagnosed with peripheral neuropathy (nerve damage, usually causing numbness or tingling, often in the feet and legs), confirmed in your medical records or by a doctor's note — if your nerve damage was caused by chemotherapy, it must have been at least one year since you finished treatment
- You have noticed problems with your walking or balance yourself
- Your foot size is compatible with the Walkasins device (confirm with trial site)
- You are willing to use the Walkasins device as instructed
Who may not be able to join:
- You can stand on one leg for 30 seconds or longer (this suggests your balance may be good enough that the device would not help you)
- You have reported having a sudden or active blood clot condition, including deep vein thrombosis (a clot in a deep vein, usually in the leg)
- You have reported having severe problems with blood circulation in your legs or feet
- You have lymphedema (swelling caused by a build-up of fluid) that has not been treated
- You have any untreated wound, swelling, infection, irritated skin, or skin rash on the lower part of your leg where the device would be worn
- You have a reported broken bone in your foot or ankle that has not been treated
- You have another nerve or muscle/joint condition that significantly affects your ability to walk
- You use a leg or ankle brace for walking that would prevent you from wearing the Walkasins device
- You weigh more than 300 pounds
- You are unable to feel the vibrations produced by the Walkasins device
