Who might be able to join this trial:

  • Children between the ages of 5 and 12 years old who are able to communicate verbally
  • Children who are scheduled for a planned surgery that requires staying in the hospital for at least one day before the operation, such as stomach or bowel surgery, urinary tract surgery, ear/nose/throat procedures, plastic surgery, or bone surgery (for example, spine correction for scoliosis)

Who may not be able to join:

  • Children who have a known psychiatric (mental health) disorder
  • Children who have been diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder (ASD)
