Who might be able to join this trial:

• People between 50 and 80 years old
• People who have been diagnosed with Parkinson's disease based on a specific set of standard diagnostic guidelines known as the UK Brain Bank criteria
• People who experience "freezing of gait" (a sudden inability to move the feet while walking), confirmed by watching a short video of freezing episodes and recognising having had a similar episode in the past month
• People whose Parkinson's medication has not changed in the month before joining the trial
• People in whom freezing of gait has been directly observed and rated above a certain level by a clinician using a standard Parkinson's assessment scale (MDS-UPDRS item 3.11)

Who may not be able to join:

• People who have significant walking difficulties caused by something other than Parkinson's disease, such as bone or joint conditions
• People who are unable to complete a standard walking test (called the Timed Up and Go task) on their own, without help from another person or a walking aid
• People whose hairstyle or hair accessories create a barrier between the treatment device and the scalp, and cannot be removed (for example, braids that cannot be taken out)
• People who do not pass a standard safety screening for MRI and a brain stimulation technique called TMS — this includes people with claustrophobia, implanted electronic devices such as pacemakers, metal objects or fragments in the body, or non-removable hair clips or piercings
• People who have been diagnosed with psychosis or any cognitive condition that would make it difficult to understand the study instructions or to give their own informed consent to participate
• People who are pregnant
• People who have a history of seizures
