Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who are 18 years of age or older
- People who have atrial fibrillation (an irregular heartbeat) that causes symptoms and is not caused by a temporary or treatable condition such as an infection, a blood clot in the lungs, or an overactive thyroid
- People whose doctors, following local medical guidelines, require a scan of the heart's left upper chamber before performing a procedure to restore normal heart rhythm
Who may not be able to join:
- People who need an urgent, emergency procedure to restore their heart rhythm right away — for example, those with dangerously low blood pressure, signs of shock, severe ongoing chest pain, significant heart rhythm changes on an electrical heart tracing, or serious breathing difficulties due to fluid in the lungs
- People for whom a particular type of CT heart scan (called cardiac CT) is not safe — for example, those with poorly functioning kidneys (confirm with trial site for exact levels), an allergy to the dye used in CT scans, those who are pregnant, or those who are unable to hold their breath for around 20 seconds
