Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who are between 18 and 65 years old
- People who have been formally diagnosed with carpal tunnel syndrome (a condition where a nerve in the wrist is compressed, causing pain, numbness, or tingling in the hand)
- People whose carpal tunnel syndrome has been confirmed as moderate severity through a nerve conduction test called an EMG (a test that measures how well nerves are working)
- People who have been experiencing typical carpal tunnel syndrome symptoms for at least 3 months
- People for whom wearing a wrist splint and resting the wrist has not provided sufficient relief
Who may not be able to join:
- People with a history of nerve diseases affecting multiple nerves throughout the body, nerve problems in the shoulder area, thoracic outlet syndrome (nerve or blood vessel compression in the upper chest/shoulder area), or previous surgery on the wrist
- People with a history of inflammatory arthritis, an underactive thyroid, pregnancy, rheumatological disorders (conditions affecting joints, muscles, and connective tissue), or a pacemaker
- People currently taking the blood-thinning medication warfarin, those who have previously had a corticosteroid injection for carpal tunnel syndrome, those with an injury or tumour at the planned injection site, those with a known sensitivity to corticosteroids, or those with a skin infection at the injection site
- People with a condition called G6PD deficiency (a blood enzyme disorder), an overactive thyroid, a low platelet count in the blood, serious heart or circulation instability, or those taking a type of blood pressure medication known as ACE inhibitors
