Who might be able to join this trial:

- People who have had unstable chest pain (unstable angina) or a heart attack within the past 3 months, or people with an irregular heartbeat that has not been treated or has not responded well to treatment
- People with a pre-existing diabetes diagnosis where blood sugar levels are not well controlled, or people who have been diagnosed with diabetes-related complications before surgery (such as kidney, eye, heart, or nerve damage related to diabetes)
- People with severe liver or kidney dysfunction
- People scheduled for liver surgery, kidney surgery, adrenal gland surgery, or day surgery (same-day discharge procedures)
- People whose resting blood pressure is at or above 180/110 mmHg, or whose blood pressure is very low (systolic below 90 mmHg or mean blood pressure below 65 mmHg)
- People who have taken corticosteroids or other immune-suppressing medications for more than 10 days within the past 6 months, or people with a history of adrenal suppression or immune system disease
