Who might be able to join this trial:
For people with Parkinson's Disease:
- A person must have a formal clinical diagnosis of Parkinson's Disease
- A person must not meet the criteria for a dementia diagnosis
For healthy volunteers (people without Parkinson's Disease):
- A person must have a normal or near-normal neurological examination
- A person must have normal cognitive (thinking and memory) functioning
- A person must have no parents, siblings, or children who have been diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease
Who may not be able to join:
- People who have a neurological condition other than Parkinson's Disease
- People who have had a serious head injury involving loss of consciousness lasting more than 5 minutes, or a head injury that caused lasting neurological effects
- People who have a diagnosis of schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, or epilepsy
- People who have end-stage organ failure or are currently undergoing cancer treatment
- People who have a diagnosis of dementia, or who score below a certain threshold on standard memory and thinking tests (confirm with trial site)
- People who have metal implants in their body, experience claustrophobia (fear of enclosed spaces), or weigh over 300 pounds, as these factors may make MRI scanning unsafe or not possible
