Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who have been diagnosed with depression or anxiety
- People who have been continuously taking SSRI or SNRI antidepressant medications for at least six months before the trial begins
- People aged between 18 and 70 years old
- People who have a confirmed heart or cardiovascular condition, such as stable coronary heart disease, heart failure, cardiomyopathy, irregular heart rhythms, heart valve disease, or who have previously had heart surgery or a heart procedure
- People who are willing to take part voluntarily, sign a consent form, and attend follow-up appointments
Who may not be able to join:
- People who currently have, or have a history of, mania, hypomania, bipolar disorder, or any other mental health condition beyond depression or anxiety
- People who have a brain injury or a serious non-heart-related illness, such as advanced cancer
- People who are unable to take part in physical exercise or training, or who have medical reasons preventing them from taking certain medications
- People who currently use alcohol excessively, misuse drugs, or have thoughts of suicide
- People who are currently taking other antidepressants or different doses of medications that may overlap with the trial medications (confirm with trial site)
- People who have had a heart attack within the last two weeks, or who are in an unstable angina episode
- People with severe, uncontrolled irregular heart rhythms
- People who are in the acute (active) stage of heart failure
- People with severe blockage of the heart's outflow tract that is causing symptoms
- People with an active deep vein blood clot, with or without a blood clot in the lungs
- People with active inflammation of the heart muscle, the sac around the heart, or the heart's inner lining
- People with an acute tear in the main artery (aorta)
- People with a blood clot inside the heart that carries a high risk of travelling to other parts of the body
- People with a large fluid build-up around the heart
- People who are unable to exercise adequately or who decline to sign the consent form
