Who might be able to join this trial:
This trial has two groups. People may be considered for the pancreatic cancer group if they meet all of the following:
- The person is at least 19 years old.
- The person has already signed informed consent for a planned upper endoscopy, endoscopic ultrasound, or ERCP procedure before any fluid collection takes place.
- The person has a confirmed diagnosis of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (a specific type of pancreatic cancer) at any stage (I through IV), proven by biopsy — or — the person has imaging that suggests pancreatic cancer and is already scheduled for an endoscopic ultrasound-guided biopsy to investigate further.
People may be considered for the non-pancreatic cancer group if they meet all of the following:
- The person is at least 19 years old.
- The person has already signed informed consent for a planned upper endoscopy, endoscopic ultrasound, or ERCP procedure before any fluid collection takes place.
- The person has a pancreatic cyst, or has been diagnosed with acute or chronic pancreatitis — or — the person has no known pancreatic disease.
Who may not be able to join:
- The person has a natural or surgically altered body structure that would prevent direct collection of fluid from the duodenum (the first part of the small intestine).
- The person is medically unstable in a way that makes it unsafe to perform an endoscopy.
- The person has a large amount of uncontrolled fluid build-up in the abdomen that makes it unsafe to perform an endoscopy.
- The person has a blood clotting disorder that cannot be corrected and that makes it unsafe to perform an endoscopy.
