Who might be able to join this trial:
- People aged 18 years or older
- People who have been diagnosed with cataracts and are scheduled for their first cataract removal surgery with lens implant (a procedure called phacoemulsification with intraocular lens implantation)
- People who are able to communicate in Mandarin or Taiwanese
- People with diabetes whose blood sugar level is below 250 mg/dL and whose HbA1c (a measure of average blood sugar over several months) is below 8%, as assessed by their attending doctor
Who may not be able to join:
- People who have been diagnosed with dementia or a psychiatric disorder
- People who have had cataract surgery before
- People with severe hearing impairment that is officially certified as a disability and who do not use a hearing aid
- People whose top blood pressure reading (systolic) is above 160 mmHg on the day of surgery
- People whose vision before surgery is below a certain level (a visual acuity score of less than 0.05) (confirm with trial site)
- People who are having additional eye procedures (such as vitrectomy) performed at the same time as their cataract surgery
- People who are not able to use the digital devices required as part of the trial
