Who may be able to join
- People who are willing to take part voluntarily and are able to give written informed consent after being fully informed about the study.
- People aged between 18 and 75 years old (inclusive) at the time of screening, of any gender.
- People who have been diagnosed with stage IIIA non-small cell lung cancer (a specific type of lung cancer) confirmed by tissue testing, who had surgery to fully remove the tumour (called R0 resection), and who started the study treatment combined with post-surgery chemotherapy within 8 weeks of that surgery — and whose cancer does not have certain specific genetic changes (EGFR sensitising mutations or ALK fusion).
- People whose doctors expect them to survive for more than 6 months at the time of joining the trial.
- People who have a general health and activity level rated as 0 or 1 on a standard medical scale (meaning fully active or able to carry out light work).
- People whose blood test results at screening meet all of the following levels:
- White blood cell count of 3.0×10⁹/L or higher.
- Neutrophil count (a type of white blood cell) of 1.5×10⁹/L or higher.
- Lymphocyte count (another type of white blood cell) of 0.5×10⁹/L or higher.
- Haemoglobin (a measure of red blood cells) of 90 g/L or higher.
- Platelet count of 75×10⁹/L or higher.
- Liver function markers (bilirubin, AST, and ALT) within acceptable ranges based on standard laboratory reference levels (confirm exact values with trial site).
- Kidney function within acceptable ranges, including a creatinine clearance rate of at least 50 mL/minute calculated using a standard formula (confirm with trial site).
- Women who could become pregnant must have a negative pregnancy blood test at screening and must agree to use highly effective contraception during the study and for at least 1 year after the last treatment; men whose partners could become pregnant must either have had a surgical sterilisation procedure or agree to use effective contraception during the study and for at least 1 year after the last treatment.
- People whose eligibility has been confirmed by the study investigator.
Who may not be able to join
Each point below is a reason the trial team may not be able to accept someone. It is not a list of requirements to meet.
- People with non-small cell lung cancer who received treatment before their surgery (called neoadjuvant therapy).
- Women who are pregnant or currently breastfeeding.
- People who have had another type of cancer in the past, unless it was one of the following: a cured non-melanoma skin cancer, cervical carcinoma in situ, localised prostate cancer, superficial bladder cancer, or another cancer where the person has been cancer-free for more than 5 years.
- People whose blood tests show certain active or past viral infections, including hepatitis B (under specific conditions), hepatitis C, syphilis, or HIV (confirm specific test criteria with trial site).
- People who have taken an experimental drug or received another cell-based immune therapy within 28 days before screening.
- People who have received a live or weakened (attenuated) vaccine within 4 weeks before the NK cell treatment given in this trial.
- People who need ongoing treatment with steroid medications (such as cortisone-type drugs) taken throughout the body, or other medicines that suppress the immune system, during the study period, as determined by the investigator.
- People who have a known allergy or sensitivity to any ingredient in the NK cell product used in this trial (including serum albumin) or to common emergency or anaesthetic medications.
- People who have had certain serious heart or cardiovascular problems in the 180 days before screening, including unstable chest pain (angina), a heart attack, significant heart failure, serious irregular heart rhythms requiring medication, or procedures such as heart stenting or bypass surgery.
- People with any condition that the investigator believes could affect their safety or their ability to follow the study requirements, including poorly controlled diabetes, uncontrolled infections, central nervous system disorders, bleeding or clotting problems, a history of poor compliance with medical treatment, or substance misuse.
