• People who have had shoulder pain lasting at least 3 months

• People with a history of inflammatory disease affecting the shoulder joint (such as rheumatoid arthritis)
• People with a history of neurological disorders
• People who have previously had surgery on the shoulder
• People who test positive on a physical test called the "drop arm test"
• People who have reduced passive movement in the shoulder (where a clinician cannot move the shoulder through its normal range)
• People who have measurable loss of muscle strength
• People whose imaging results (such as an X-ray or MRI) have confirmed a specific structural problem in the shoulder
• People with a full tear of the rotator cuff (the group of muscles and tendons stabilising the shoulder)
• People with nerve-related symptoms or deficits in the arm or hand
• People who have been diagnosed with cancer or have an active infection
• People who have taken medication for nerve pain for any reason within the past 3 months
