Who might be able to join this trial:
- Children who are between 5 and 8 years old (boys and girls)
- Children who are cooperative and relatively comfortable in a dental setting (as measured by a standard dental behaviour rating scale called the Frankl scale, at levels 3 or 4)
- Children who are generally healthy with no significant medical conditions (classified as ASA Class I — confirm with trial site if unsure what this means)

- Children who have at least one healthy baby molar tooth with a deep cavity on each side of their mouth, requiring treatment under local anaesthetic
Who may not be able to join:
- Children who have special health care needs
- Children who are currently taking corticosteroid medications (a type of anti-inflammatory medicine)
- Children who have a known condition affecting their saliva glands, such as Sjögren's syndrome
- Children whose parents or guardians are unwilling to sign the consent form agreeing to participation
