Who may be able to join
- People aged 18 to 75 years old, of any gender.
- People who have been confirmed through a tissue or cell sample test to have extensive-stage small cell lung cancer (a type that has spread beyond one lung area, based on a specific staging system called VALG).
- People who have not yet received any previous systemic (whole-body) treatment for this cancer.
- People whose life expectancy is more than 3 months.
- People with a good general physical functioning score (rated 0 or 1 on a standard scale doctors use to measure how much a condition affects daily activity).
- People who have at least one measurable tumour that can be tracked using standard imaging guidelines (called RECIST 1.1).
- People whose blood counts within one week before joining meet required levels — including white blood cells, neutrophils (infection-fighting cells), platelets, and haemoglobin (confirm specific values with trial site).
- People whose liver function test results within one week before joining fall within acceptable ranges, with slightly different allowances for those who have cancer that has spread to the liver (confirm with trial site).
- People whose kidney function within one week before joining meets acceptable levels, based on either a blood test or a calculated kidney clearance rate (confirm with trial site).
- People whose blood clotting test results within one week before joining are within acceptable ranges (confirm with trial site).
- People whose pancreas-related enzyme levels (lipase and amylase) are within acceptable limits, or are elevated but without confirmed signs of pancreatitis; and whose liver enzyme ALP is within acceptable limits, with a higher allowance for those with bone spread (confirm with trial site).
- People whose heart pumping function, measured by ultrasound, shows the heart is pumping at least 50% of its capacity.
- Women who could become pregnant must have a negative blood pregnancy test within 7 days before starting the study drug; women who could become pregnant and men whose partners could become pregnant must agree to use contraception from when they sign the consent form until 24 weeks after the last dose of the study drug.
- People who voluntarily agree to join, sign an informed consent form, are willing to follow the study requirements, and are able to attend follow-up appointments.
Who may not be able to join
Each point below is a reason the trial team may not be able to accept someone. It is not a list of requirements to meet.
- People with large amounts of uncontrolled fluid build-up around the lungs, around the heart, or in the abdomen.
- People with certain significant heart conditions, including: severely reduced heart function (Grade III–IV on a standard heart classification scale); unstable chest pain or a heart attack within the past year; certain abnormal heart rhythms or electrical conduction problems (including a specific electrical measurement, QTc, that is too long); or significant diseases affecting the heart muscle or the sac surrounding the heart.
- People whose bone marrow or organ function does not meet the required levels.
- People who have been treated with certain immune-boosting medications (such as thymosin, interferon, or interleukin-2) within 4 weeks before joining.
- People who have used steroid medications above a certain dose, or other immune-suppressing drugs, within 2 weeks before joining.
- People who have any active autoimmune disease or a history of autoimmune disease; or who have certain types of lung inflammation (including from drugs, radiation, or active pneumonia requiring steroid treatment).
- People who have had a serious active or uncontrolled infection within 2 weeks before joining, and/or who have recently received antibiotic treatment.
- People who have active tuberculosis or are currently being treated for tuberculosis.
- People with uncontrolled high blood pressure, or a history of hypertensive crisis or a blood-pressure-related brain condition.
- People who have had a blood clot or stroke-related event (such as a mini-stroke, brain bleed, brain infarction, deep vein blood clot, or lung blood clot) within 24 weeks before joining.
- People who have had invasive surgery within 4 weeks before joining.
- People who test positive for hepatitis B with a viral load above a set threshold, or who have active or chronic hepatitis C infection, or a known history of HIV.
- People who have received a live vaccine within 12 weeks before joining.
- People with a known allergy to the study drug or its ingredients, or a known history of severe allergic reaction to any monoclonal antibody (a type of laboratory-made medicine).
- People who have previously received a transplant of an organ or blood stem cells from another person.
- People who have had another type of cancer within the past 5 years, with the exception of certain fully treated early-stage cancers (such as specific skin cancers, early cervical cancer, early prostate cancer after complete removal, or early breast duct cancer after complete removal).
- People with known serious mental health conditions, alcohol dependence, or drug misuse or addiction.
- People who have taken part in another clinical trial or received an experimental treatment within 4 weeks before signing the consent form.
- People who, in the judgement of the research team, have other factors that could interfere with safe participation or reliable data collection — such as difficulty following the study plan, other serious conditions needing treatment at the same time, significantly abnormal lab results, or personal or social circumstances that may affect safety.

This date has passed while the registry still lists the trial as open to participants. Sponsors often update a trial's status without revising its projected end date, so it may well still be recruiting — but the record is out of date in at least one respect. Check with the study contact before relying on either.
