Who might be able to join this trial:

• People who are male or female and aged 45 or older (people aged 18–44 may also be enrolled but would not be included in the main results analysis)
• People who are able to understand the study procedures and are willing to give their consent to take part, including signing a health information release form
• People who are able and willing to provide a stool sample within the 120 days before a colonoscopy procedure
• People who are able and willing to undergo a colonoscopy after providing a stool sample

Who may not be able to join:

• People who had any precancerous findings during their most recent colonoscopy (note: benign or hyperplastic polyps of any size do not count as precancerous for this purpose)
• People who have been diagnosed with, or have a history of, colorectal cancer
• People who have a history of cancer in the throat, oesophagus, stomach, or other parts of the upper digestive or breathing tract
• People who have recently had a positive result from a non-invasive bowel screening test — specifically, a fecal occult blood test or fecal immunochemical test (FIT) within the past 12 months, or a FIT-DNA test within the past 36 months
• People who have had a colonoscopy within the past 9 years
• People who have had part of their colon or bowel surgically removed for any reason other than a specific condition called sigmoid diverticular disease
• People whose reason for having a colonoscopy was visible rectal bleeding (such as blood in the toilet bowl) within the past 30 days (note: blood on toilet paper after wiping does not count as rectal bleeding for this criterion)
• People who have been diagnosed with, or have a personal history of, any of the following conditions that carry a higher risk of colorectal cancer:
  • Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), including ulcerative colitis or Crohn's disease
  • Familial adenomatous polyposis (FAP), including the attenuated form
  • Lynch Syndrome (also called hereditary non-polyposis colorectal cancer, or HNPCC)
  • Other inherited cancer syndromes, including Peutz-Jeghers Syndrome, MYH-Associated Polyposis, Gardner's Syndrome, Turcot's Syndrome, Cowden's Syndrome, Juvenile Polyposis, Cronkhite-Canada Syndrome, Neurofibromatosis, or Familial Hyperplastic Polyposis
