Who might be able to join this trial:
- People between 18 and 80 years old who have been diagnosed with type 1 or type 2 diabetes and have a foot ulcer related to their diabetes, with a blood sugar control reading (HbA1c) at or below 10%
- People who have had at least one foot ulcer that has been present for at least three weeks and has not shown signs of healing despite receiving standard wound care treatment
- People whose foot ulcer falls into a specific severity category involving both reduced blood flow and signs of infection, either affecting the surface of the skin or reaching deeper tissue such as tendons (confirm with trial site for exact classification)
- People who have documented narrowing or blockage of blood vessels below the knee, confirmed by imaging, and who have already undergone a specific procedure to restore blood flow to the affected area, with imaging during that procedure confirming the artery was successfully opened
- People who are able and willing to provide written consent to participate
Who may not be able to join:
- People currently receiving vacuum-assisted wound therapy or maggot therapy on their wound
- People currently receiving dialysis
- People currently using local antibiotic treatments applied directly to the wound
- People currently being treated with platelet-rich fibrin on their wound
- Women who are capable of becoming pregnant and are not using effective contraception, or women who are currently breastfeeding
- People who have serious dysfunction of one or more major organs and whose life expectancy is estimated at less than six months
- People who have taken part in another clinical trial within the past three months, or who are currently enrolled in another clinical trial
