Who may be able to join

  • Adults aged 18 to 75 years, of any gender.
  • People who have been diagnosed with small cell lung cancer (SCLC) confirmed by laboratory tissue testing.
  • People with SCLC (either limited or extensive stage) that has come back or gotten worse after one or two rounds of standard treatment.
  • People who have at least one area of cancer that can be measured on scans, according to standard measurement guidelines.
  • People who are generally well enough to carry out normal daily activities with little or no restriction (as assessed by a standard medical scale called ECOG Performance Status 0 or 1).
  • People who are expected to live for at least 3 months.
  • People whose heart, liver, kidneys, and other organs are working well enough (as determined by the trial site).
  • People who are using effective contraception throughout the study; women must not be pregnant at the time of screening and must either not be able to have children or confirm they are not pregnant.
  • People who have read, understood, and signed the informed consent form for the trial.

Who may not be able to join

Each point below is a reason the trial team may not be able to accept someone. It is not a list of requirements to meet.

  • People with a mixed or combined form of SCLC, a previous diagnosis of SCLC that changed from another type, or SCLC that has changed into a different type of lung cancer (non-small cell lung cancer).
  • People who have had a severe allergic reaction to proteins used in medications similar to the study drug, or to any ingredients in the study drug formulation.
  • People who have received cancer treatments — such as chemotherapy, radiation, biological therapy, hormone therapy, or targeted therapy — within the 4 weeks before starting the study drug.
  • People who have taken part in another study using an unapproved experimental treatment within 4 weeks before starting the study drug.
  • People who have had major surgery or a serious physical injury within 4 weeks before starting the study drug, or who are expected to need planned surgery during the trial (minor procedures like needle biopsies are generally excluded from this restriction — confirm with trial site).
  • People who have a history of taking corticosteroid medicines (a type of steroid) on an ongoing basis, except in specific situations outlined by the trial (confirm with trial site).
  • People who have received immune-boosting medicines — such as thymosin, interleukin-2, or interferon — within 14 days before starting the study drug.
  • People who have received a live virus vaccine within 4 weeks before starting the study drug.
  • People who have previously had a bone marrow transplant or an organ transplant from another person.
  • People who still have side effects from previous cancer treatments that have not returned to a mild level, except in specific situations outlined by the trial (confirm with trial site).
  • People who have cancer that has spread to the brain and has not yet been treated, except in specific situations outlined by the trial (confirm with trial site).
  • People who currently have an active infection that requires antibiotics or other anti-infective medicines given through a drip (intravenously).
  • People who have a weakened immune system, including those who test positive for HIV.
  • People with currently active hepatitis B or hepatitis C infection.
  • People who currently have a lung condition called interstitial lung disease, except for scarring caused by radiation treatment that does not require steroid therapy.
  • People who have a history of serious heart or stroke-related conditions.
  • People with active or suspected conditions where the immune system attacks the body (such as lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, or vasculitis), except in specific situations outlined by the trial (confirm with trial site).
  • People who have had a severe immune-related side effect (grade 3 or higher) from a previous immunotherapy treatment, or a moderate immune-related heart inflammation (grade 2) during immunotherapy, except in specific situations outlined by the trial (confirm with trial site).
  • People who have had another type of cancer, except in specific situations outlined by the trial (confirm with trial site).
  • People who have a build-up of fluid around the lungs, in the abdomen, or around the heart that requires medical treatment.
  • People with a known dependence on alcohol or drugs.
  • People with a history of mental health conditions or who may have difficulty following the study's requirements.
  • Women who are currently pregnant or breastfeeding.
  • People with other serious ongoing health conditions, or any other concern that the trial doctor believes would make participation unsafe.
