Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who have been diagnosed with unipolar depressive disorder (a type of depression) based on a specific psychiatric interview and confirmed by medical records or a healthcare professional
- People whose depression has not been in stable remission for the past 12 months, based on the treating doctor's assessment
- People with a depression severity score of at least 21 on a self-reported depression questionnaire called the Major Depression Inventory (MDI)
- People who are aged 18 or older and under 65 at the time of joining the trial
- People who have signed a consent form agreeing to take part
- People who are being treated as outpatients (not staying overnight in a hospital)
- People whose medical treatment has not changed significantly in the 4 weeks before their screening appointment
- People who are currently taking medication to treat their depression
Who may not be able to join:
- People who have a diagnosis of dementia
- People whose substance use is considered by the investigator to interfere with taking part in the study
- People the investigator believes are at high risk of not following the study requirements
- People who do not understand the Danish language, as assessed by the investigator
- People who have shown certain levels of suicidal thinking or behaviour in the past three months, or as determined by the investigator, based on a standardised assessment tool
- People with certain serious medical conditions — such as cancer, kidney failure, epilepsy, or having a deep brain stimulation device — or other conditions the investigator believes could affect the study's results or the person's safety
