- People with certain medical factors that make a brain stimulation technique called TMS (Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation) unsuitable, including: a history of epilepsy or seizures not caused by fever; metal or electronic implants in the head or neck area; a pacemaker or implantable heart device; severe psychiatric conditions that are not well controlled (such as psychosis or mania); or current or possible pregnancy.
- People with certain medical factors that make a muscle stimulation technique called FES (Functional Electrical Stimulation) unsuitable, including: skin problems at the area where electrode pads would be placed; or having an implanted electronic device.
