Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who are over 18 years of age, either male or female
- People who have been diagnosed with idiopathic Parkinson's disease (Parkinson's disease with no known cause)
- People who have had a specific Medtronic brain stimulation device (called Percept PC) implanted on both sides of the brain, targeting an area called the subthalamic nucleus, and whose stimulation settings have been stable and optimised for at least three months
- People who experience sleep disturbances related to their Parkinson's disease, as indicated by a score of one or higher on a specific question from a standard Parkinson's disease rating scale (confirm with trial site)
- People who are able to walk around independently
- People who are able to understand and agree to participate in the trial on their own
- People who take sleep-related medications, provided the dose has remained unchanged for at least 30 days
Who may not be able to join:
- People who have other neurological conditions in addition to Parkinson's disease, such as stroke or multiple sclerosis
- People who have an active sleep disorder, such as narcolepsy, untreated moderate to severe sleep apnoea, or uncontrolled restless legs syndrome
- People who have been formally diagnosed with dementia following a neuropsychological assessment
- People who have a current alcohol or substance abuse problem
- People who work night shifts or have irregular working hours
