Who may be able to join
AI generated eligibility summary. Written by an AI model from the official source data and checked on a sample basis. It can contain mistakes, so confirm anything important against the original source. How we use AI

- Adults aged 18 years or older
- People who have been clinically diagnosed with liver cirrhosis (scarring of the liver)
- People whose endoscopy (a camera procedure to look inside the digestive tract) has confirmed the presence of enlarged veins (varices) in the esophagus or stomach
- For the portal vein pressure measurement part of the trial only: people who have had no signs of bleeding from these enlarged veins for at least 14 days
- People (or their legal guardian) who are able to understand the study, are willing to take part, and can sign a written consent form
Who may not be able to join:

- People with a platelet count below 20 ×10⁹/mm³ (platelets are blood cells that help with clotting; this indicates a very low level)
