Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who have been diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes for more than 5 years
- People whose pancreas produces very little insulin on its own, shown by a specific blood test result (2-hour C-peptide level below 0.3 ng/mL) taken after consuming a mixed meal
- People who are on continuous insulin therapy AND have experienced at least one serious low blood sugar episode in the past 12 months, OR who have a condition where they cannot feel the warning signs of low blood sugar (assessed using a standard questionnaire called the Clarke scoring system)
- People who are willing and able to regularly check their own blood sugar levels as required by the trial
- People who are willing to take part voluntarily and sign a consent form
Who may not be able to join:
- People who have uncontrolled ongoing infections, or who have tested positive for hepatitis B, hepatitis C, HIV, or syphilis
- People who have been diagnosed with any cancer in the past 5 years, or who are currently receiving cancer treatment
- People who have taken part in another clinical trial in the past 3 months, or who have received an islet cell transplant, organ transplant, or cell therapy in the past 12 months
- People whom the trial investigators consider unsuitable to participate for any other reason (confirm with trial site)
