Who may and may not be able to join

AI generated eligibility summary. Written by an AI model from the official source data and checked on a sample basis. It can contain mistakes, so confirm anything important against the original source. How we use AI

Who may be able to join

  • People who have Crohn's disease that affects the ileum (a part of the small intestine), including those whose disease has come back in that area after surgery, and who are about to start a type of medication called biologics.

Who may not be able to join

Each point below is a reason the trial team may not be able to accept someone. It is not a list of requirements to meet.

  • People who are not able to give informed consent, or who do not wish to do so.
  • People who have claustrophobia or feel unable to lie still on their back for the scanning procedures (PET/MRI or PET/CT scans).
  • People whose kidneys are not working well enough, based on a specific blood test result (confirm with trial site).
  • Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding. A pregnancy test will be done for all women who could become pregnant.
  • People who have had an allergic reaction to contrast dye used in medical scans.
  • People for whom MRI scans are not safe, for example those with certain metal implants or severe claustrophobia.
  • People with significant mental health conditions that could affect their ability to consent or take part in the study.
  • People whose Crohn's disease only affects the large bowel (colon), with no involvement of the ileum or small intestine.
  • People who have a condition called glaucoma or ischaemic heart disease, or who have had a serious allergic reaction (such as anaphylaxis) to a medication called buscopan.
