Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who identify as non-Hispanic Black
- People who have been diagnosed with type 1 diabetes and are currently being treated with insulin
- People who are currently using, or have used in the last 3 months, an automated insulin delivery system (a device that combines a continuous glucose monitor, an insulin pump, and an automatic dosing program)
- People who receive their diabetes care at UH Cleveland Medical Center
- People who have not previously worked with a community health worker for help with diabetes technology
Who may not be able to join:
- People who have been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes or a certain inherited form of diabetes called monogenic diabetes
- People who have completed high school
- People where at least one parent, guardian, or family support person is not willing to take part in the trial
- People whose parents or guardians do not speak English
- People who have not used an automated insulin delivery system within the past 3 months
- People who have previously worked with a community health worker for help with diabetes technology
- People who are involved with child and family services custody arrangements (confirm with trial site)

Change in capillary HbA1c; Change in number of participants who use an automated insulin delivery system with at least 80% time in automated mode over the past 30 days, as measured by download of data from the automated insulin delivery system
