Who might be able to join this trial:
- You are 45 years old or older, of any gender.
- You have been diagnosed with Parkinson's disease with mild memory or thinking difficulties, OR with Parkinson's disease dementia, based on recognised medical diagnostic guidelines.
- If you currently take certain medications (such as cholinesterase inhibitors, benzodiazepines, memantine, or anti-psychotic drugs), your dose has not changed in the past 4 weeks.
Who may not be able to join:
- You have been diagnosed with an atypical form of parkinsonism (a Parkinson's-like condition that is not standard Parkinson's disease).
- You are unable to have an MRI scan — for example, because you have a pacemaker, certain metal implants (such as aneurysm clips, metal in the eye, or a cochlear implant), or severe claustrophobia.
- An MRI scan has shown signs of a large stroke or a growth/lesion in your brain.
- You regularly take a type of medication known as "typical anti-cholinergic drugs" (confirm with trial site).
- You have a recent history of a significant, uncontrolled gut or digestive condition, such as severe acid reflux (GERD) or colorectal cancer.
- You have a significant metabolic condition or another serious medical condition that is not well controlled (confirm with trial site).
- You are currently pregnant or breastfeeding.
- You have had recent thoughts of suicide, as identified by a specific score on a standard questionnaire used by the trial team.
- You have any other condition that the trial team believes would make it unsafe or unsuitable for you to take part.
