Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who weigh at least 43 kg (about 95 pounds)
- People who have at least one islet autoantibody (a marker in the blood that can indicate the immune system is affecting the pancreas), and/or have been diagnosed with clinical Type 1 diabetes within the last 100 days
- There must be a record confirming the presence of at least one islet autoantibody
- People who have been diagnosed with Stage 3 Type 1 diabetes may be eligible if the diagnosis was made within the last 100 days and they are at least 12 years old
- People who are in generally good health, without other serious ongoing or recent illnesses that the trial doctor believes could affect their safety or the study results
- People who are able to give their own consent (or assent, for younger participants)
- People who can read and understand written and spoken English
Who may not be able to join:
- People who are currently pregnant, or who become pregnant during the study
- People who are currently taking a type of medication known as sodium glucose cotransporter inhibitors (SGLTi) — a group of medicines sometimes used to manage blood sugar levels (confirm with trial site if unsure whether a current medication falls into this category)
- People who have donated blood in the past 8 weeks
