Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who have been diagnosed with carpal tunnel syndrome through nerve testing, and who have had pain, numbness, burning, or tingling in the area of the hand supplied by the median nerve for at least 6 weeks
- People who are able to read and write
- People who agree to take part in the study
Who may not be able to join:
- People who have diabetes, a widespread inflammatory disease, an active infection, or a history of cancer
- People who are younger than 18 or older than 65 years of age
- People who are not able to read or write
- People who do not wish to take part in the study
- People who have another condition that causes nerve pain, such as polyneuropathy (widespread nerve damage), radiculopathy (nerve pain from the spine), or multiple sclerosis (MS)
- People who have another nerve compression condition in the arm or elbow, such as cubital tunnel syndrome
- People who have already had surgery for carpal tunnel syndrome
- People who have rheumatoid arthritis or advanced osteoarthritis of the hand
