Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who are willing to take part voluntarily and sign a consent form agreeing to join the study
- People aged 18 or older but under 60 years old at the time of screening
- People who have been diagnosed with a Major Depressive Episode (a clinical diagnosis of significant depression) based on medical records, a clinical assessment, and a standard psychiatric interview tool
- People whose depression symptoms score at least 17 points on a standard 17-item depression rating scale (called the HAMD-17), measured at two separate points before joining
- People who are in generally stable physical health based on their medical history and measurements such as blood pressure
- People who, in the investigator's judgment, are able to complete all required assessments on their own and are willing to follow the trial's procedures throughout the study
Who may not be able to join:
- People who have ever been diagnosed with, or currently have, conditions such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, delusional disorder, borderline personality disorder, schizoaffective disorder, paranoid personality disorder, or other serious psychiatric conditions (confirmed through medical history and a structured interview)
- People who currently misuse, or have misused, alcohol or other substances in the past year
- People who score 3 or higher on the suicide-related question of the HAMD-17 rating scale, have attempted suicide in the past year, or are assessed by a clinician as having a significant risk of suicide
- People whose depression is considered to be caused by another serious medical condition, such as an underactive thyroid or Parkinson's disease
- People who have had a stroke or heart attack in the past year, have high blood pressure (above 140/90 mmHg), or have a clinically significant irregular heartbeat
- People who have other significant health conditions affecting the heart, lungs, digestive system, liver, kidneys, or other body systems that could affect the study results or pose a health risk, as determined by the investigator
- People who are currently taking part in another interventional clinical trial for depression, or who have done so within the 30 days before screening
- People who have spent an extended period of time (a single visit of one hour or more) at Wulongtan Park, Baotu Spring Park, or Daming Lake Park at any point in the past three years (confirm with trial site)
