Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who have attended the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Outpatient Clinic at Kocaeli University
- Young people between 12 and 17 years of age
- People who have been diagnosed with Social Anxiety Disorder (SAD)
- People who are not currently taking any medication for Social Anxiety Disorder
- People assessed as having normal intelligence based on clinical observation
- People who have chosen not to take medication that was recommended for their Social Anxiety Disorder (research arm and one control group)
- People in the control group who are willing to take sertraline, a medication routinely used for Social Anxiety Disorder in outpatient clinic follow-ups
- People who have agreed to take part voluntarily, after seeing an invitation poster about the study
- People for whom written consent to participate has been provided by the young person and/or a parent or authorised family member
Who may not be able to join:
- People with a substance use disorder
- People with a diagnosis of schizophrenia or bipolar disorder
- People with autism spectrum disorder
- People with a cognitive disability (intellectual disability)
- People with a neurological disorder (research arm only — confirm with trial site)
- People with a balance disorder (research arm only — confirm with trial site)
- People who have received SSRI medication (a type of antidepressant) for Social Anxiety Disorder within the past 6 months
