- People between the ages of 40 and 75 who have been diagnosed with Parkinson's disease (the kind with no known cause), whose disease is at a moderate stage or below, and who score well enough on a standard memory and thinking test (the required score depends on the person's level of formal education)

- People who are currently taking medications used to treat psychiatric conditions (such as antipsychotics) or antidepressants
- People who have conditions affecting their hands or arms — such as severe involuntary movements, carpal tunnel syndrome, tendon injuries, or finger amputations — that would interfere with hand and finger skill tests, or who have joint conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis or osteoarthritis, or any neurological condition other than Parkinson's disease
