Who might be able to join this trial:
- Adults between 22 and 80 years of age
- People who have been diagnosed with idiopathic Parkinson's disease (the most common form of Parkinson's, not caused by another condition or medication)
- People whose Parkinson's motor symptoms score at or above a certain level (25 or higher on a standard rating scale) when measured while not taking Parkinson's medication
- People who have been on a stable Parkinson's medication routine for at least 30 days before joining the trial
- People who are proficient in English
- People with normal hearing and vision, or who use aids such as glasses or hearing devices to correct these
- People who are able to give their own informed consent to participate, or who have a legally authorised representative available to do so on their behalf
Who may not be able to join:
- People whose Parkinsonism is caused by another condition or is an atypical form of the disease
- People who have previously had deep brain stimulation or any brain surgery
- People whose score on a standard memory and thinking assessment (called the MoCA) falls below 23, which may indicate significant cognitive difficulties
- People with serious psychiatric conditions, such as psychosis, active suicidal thoughts, or untreated major depression
- People with a history of seizures or any known abnormality inside the skull or brain
- People with a significant neurological disease, such as a brain tumour or multiple sclerosis
- People for whom MRI or ultrasound scans are not safe or suitable (confirm with trial site)
- People with unstable or poorly controlled general health conditions
- People who currently have cancer, or who have had cancer within the past 5 years
- People who are pregnant or breastfeeding
- People who are currently participating in another interventional clinical trial
