Who might be able to join this trial:

For patients with a blood or bone marrow condition:

  • People who are older than 18 years
  • Both men and women are eligible
  • People who have been diagnosed with MGUS, smouldering myeloma, or multiple myeloma, confirmed by a tissue or bone marrow test, according to recognised medical guidelines

For healthy volunteers:

Who may not be able to join:

For patients:

  • People who currently have an active infection
  • People who have an autoimmune disease (a condition where the immune system attacks the body)
  • Women who are able to become pregnant and cannot confirm they are not currently pregnant
  • People who have taken high-dose steroid medications in the past 7 days, as this may affect results

For healthy volunteers:

  • People who have had previous surgery on the affected joint, or who have severe joint deformity
  • People whose joint condition is linked to a recent injury, bone tissue loss, or a past or current joint infection
  • People who have a metabolic disorder (a condition affecting how the body processes energy or substances)
  • People who have ever been diagnosed with cancer, either in the past or currently
  • People who have an autoimmune disease, such as rheumatoid arthritis
