Who might be able to join this trial:
- People between 30 and 59 years old (any sex) who have high blood pressure (hypertension).
- People who have been told they have high blood pressure and are currently taking medication for it — such as ACE inhibitors, ARBs, calcium channel blockers, thiazide diuretics, or beta blockers.
- People who have a history of high blood pressure and, without medication, have blood pressure readings averaging 140/90 mmHg or higher.
Who may not be able to join:
- People with a BMI below 18.5 or 35 and above (very low or high body weight relative to height).
- People whose blood pressure reads 160/100 mmHg or higher during the clinic visit.
- People with serious heart or blood vessel conditions, including type 2 diabetes, chronic kidney disease, a history of stroke, coronary artery disease, peripheral arterial disease, or heart failure.
- Women who are pregnant or who have given birth within the last 3 months.
- People with physical or mental limitations that make exercise difficult or unsafe.
- People currently being treated for an active cancer.
- People whose blood pressure medication is started or changed during the first 3 months of the study follow-up period (confirm with trial site).
