Who may be able to join
- People aged 18 or older
- People whose cancer has been confirmed either through a tissue sample test or by a team of medical specialists reviewing their case together
- People with a single ground-glass nodule (a type of lung spot) measuring between 6 and 30 mm, or multiple ground-glass nodules each measuring between 6 and 30 mm, with no more than 3 nodules identified by the specialist team as needing treatment
- People for whom keyhole lung surgery (called VATS) is not considered suitable by their doctors, or who have chosen not to have it
- People for whom radiation therapy or a targeted radiation treatment called SBRT is not considered suitable, or who have chosen not to have it
- People who are generally well and able to carry out daily activities with little to no limitation, as measured by a standard medical scale (ECOG score of 0 or 1)
- People who are willing to follow the trial requirements and have signed a written consent form agreeing to take part
Who may not be able to join
Each point below is a reason the trial team may not be able to accept someone. It is not a list of requirements to meet.
- People with serious heart, lung, liver, or kidney problems that would make general anaesthesia unsafe
- People for whom bronchoscopy (a camera procedure into the airways) or a CT-guided needle procedure through the skin would not be safe or appropriate
- People where at least one of the target nodules carries a high risk for a needle procedure through the skin, or where no safe pathway to reach the nodule has been identified during pre-procedure planning
- People with a very low platelet count (below 50 × 10⁹/L), or a bleeding or clotting problem that cannot be corrected (confirm specific blood test thresholds with trial site)
- People who are already taking part in another interventional clinical trial, or who are expected to need cancer treatments beyond what this trial covers during the study period
- People whom the trial doctor considers unsuitable for any other medical reason
