Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who have attended the Pediatric Nephrology Department at Istanbul University Faculty of Medicine
- People between the ages of 10 and 18
- People who have been diagnosed with primary hypertension (high blood pressure that is not caused by another condition)
- People where doctors have ruled out high blood pressure caused by another condition, or heart failure
- People who have no other ongoing or long-term health conditions apart from high blood pressure
- People who have no gum disease, dental infections, or mouth sores
- People who are not regularly taking blood pressure medications or any other medications for a long-term condition
- People who have not taken antibiotics in the past 3 months
- People who have not used mouthwash in the past 3 months
- People who have no known allergies to foods that are high in nitrates (such as beetroot, spinach, or processed meats)
- Both male and female patients are included
Who may not be able to join:
- People younger than 10 or older than 18
- People whose high blood pressure has been found to be caused by another medical condition, or who have heart failure
- People who have another ongoing or long-term health condition
- People who have gum disease, a dental infection, or a mouth condition
- People who regularly take blood pressure medications or medications for any other long-term condition
- People who have received antibiotic treatment within the last 3 months
- People who have used mouthwash within the last 3 months
- People who are allergic to foods high in nitrates
