Who might be able to join this trial:
For patients:
- People who have not done planned, structured physical activity at a moderate level for 30 minutes or more, at least 3 days per week, over the past 3 months
- Adults aged 18 to 64 years old
- People who have at least one heart disease risk factor, such as obesity, high blood pressure, abnormal cholesterol levels, diabetes, or prediabetes (the trial site can confirm whether specific measurements meet the criteria)
- People who do not have any known heart, kidney, or other serious disease that would significantly limit their ability to be physically active
- People who are not currently pregnant or breastfeeding
- People who do not smoke, or who stopped smoking at least 6 months ago
- People who drink fewer than 2 alcoholic drinks per day
- People who are able to use a computer or phone with internet access
- People who are fluent in English
- People who are willing to keep their current medication routine and usual diet, and not follow any other exercise or nutrition programs during the trial
For doctors:
- Medical doctors currently working at the trial recruitment sites
- Doctors who do not currently provide written exercise programs or refer patients to exercise clinics or exercise professionals
- Doctors who are willing to enrol two of their patients in the trial's exercise assessment program
Who may not be able to join:
- People who experience chest pain or discomfort, pain in the neck, jaw, or arms, dizziness or fainting, shortness of breath at rest or with light activity, unusual tiredness, swollen ankles, leg pain when walking, heart palpitations, or a known heart murmur
- People who have survived a stroke or cancer, are currently living with cancer, or have chronic lung disease, a musculoskeletal injury, chronic back pain, depression, dementia, or any other condition considered to significantly limit their ability to be physically active
