Who might be able to join this trial:

• People who have exactly one chest tube in place following open heart surgery
• People who are 18 years of age or older
• People who are awake and able to cooperate with the study team
• People who can speak and understand Turkish
• People whose overall condition and bodily functions (such as blood pressure and heart rate) are stable
• People who had their surgery planned in advance (not an emergency)
• People who have never had a chest tube before
• People who do not have a psychiatric (mental health) diagnosis
• People who are not taking psychiatric medications or medications that affect nerve and muscle function in a specific area of the body
• People who are willing to take part and have signed a consent form agreeing to participate

Who may not be able to join:

• People who have no chest tube, or who have more than one chest tube, after open heart surgery
• People who are under 18 years of age
• People who are awake but unable or unwilling to cooperate with the study team
• People who cannot speak or understand Turkish
• People whose overall condition or bodily functions (such as blood pressure and heart rate) are unstable
• People who had emergency surgery
• People who have previously had a chest tube
• People who currently have a psychiatric (mental health) diagnosis
• People who are currently taking psychiatric medications or medications that affect nerve and muscle function in a specific area of the body
• People who do not wish to participate or have not signed the consent form
