Who might be able to join this trial:
- Adults between 18 and 75 years old (any gender)
- People who have been diagnosed with liver cirrhosis (scarring of the liver), confirmed through medical tests, blood work, or scans
- People who have enlarged veins in the food pipe (esophageal varices) that have been identified as needing a procedure to treat them with small rubber bands (called endoscopic variceal band ligation)

- People who have a known allergy or medical reason to avoid the study drug (vonoprazan) or its ingredients

- People who are unable to communicate in the languages used in the study or are unable to cooperate with study procedures
- People who are critically unwell, including those who require intensive care unit (ICU) admission, need a breathing machine, or have a significantly reduced level of consciousness (confirm with trial site)
- People who are actively bleeding from the digestive tract at the time of joining the study
- People who have a cancer involving the upper digestive tract (such as the stomach or food pipe)
