Who may be able to join

For medical practices:

  • The practice must provide radiation therapy to at least 3 patients per month who have lung cancer or head and neck cancer.
  • The practice must have at least one radiation oncologist and one radiologist (either on staff or contracted) who are willing to take part.
  • The practice must use a medical image viewing and storage system called PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication System).

For radiation oncologists (as non-patient participants):

  • The radiologist must agree to review radiation therapy treatment targets during the study period (approximately 12 months) and complete 15 minutes of required online CORRECT training.
  • The radiologist must be willing to take part in a 30-minute interview if selected at the end of the study.

For patients:

  • Patients must have been clinically diagnosed with any stage of lung cancer or head and neck cancer.
  • Patients must be planned to receive radiation therapy with the goal of curing the disease, and this must be recorded in their medical records by their treating radiation oncologist.
  • Patients must be planned to be treated by a radiation oncologist who is participating in this study.
  • Patients must be 18 years of age or older.

Who may not be able to join

Each point below is a reason the trial team may not be able to accept someone. It is not a list of requirements to meet.

For medical practices:

  • Practices that are already taking part in another specific National Cancer Institute (NCI) research program study funded in the 2025 financial year or later may not be eligible (confirm with trial site).

For radiation oncologists (as non-patient participants):

  • Radiation oncologists who are planning to leave their position at the practice within the next 12 months.
  • Radiation oncologists who are working at the practice on a temporary or fill-in basis.

For radiologists (as non-patient participants):

  • Radiologists who are planning to leave their position at the practice within the next 12 months.
  • Radiologists who are working at the practice on a temporary or fill-in basis.

For patients:

  • Patients who are not able to communicate in English or Spanish.
  • Patients with early-stage cancer of the voice box (larynx) who are planned to receive radiation therapy as their only treatment.
