Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who have been diagnosed with either a malignant peripheral nerve sheath tumor (MPNST) or a neurofibroma, and who are already scheduled to have surgery to remove one of these tumors as part of their normal medical care
- People aged 1 year and older, including children under 18 (note: if the patient is under 18, signatures from both parents will be required)
- People who have at least one tumor that is 1 cm (about half an inch) or larger, measurable by a scan such as a CT or MRI, or by a physical examination
- People with either a newly diagnosed tumor or one that has come back after previous treatment
- People who are able to read and sign a consent form (for adults aged 18 and over)
- Both English-speaking and non-English-speaking patients
Who may not be able to join:
- Adult patients who have a cognitive impairment that means they would need a legal representative to provide consent on their behalf
- Children under the age of 1, including newborns
- People who are pregnant and scheduled for surgery to remove an MPNST
