- People who are scheduled to receive a liver transplant using the right lobe of a liver donated by a living person, and who have significant complications from high blood pressure in the liver's main blood vessel — such as swollen veins in the food pipe, a low platelet count (under 100,000), fluid build-up in the belly, confusion caused by liver disease, or moderate-to-severe liver disease as measured by a standard scoring system called Child-Turcotte-Pugh class B or C

- People who have a known allergy to any of the medications being used in the trial
- People who have a blood clot blocking the main vein leading to the liver
- People who are currently being treated with a medication called terlipressin for a kidney condition related to liver failure (hepatorenal syndrome)
- People who have high blood pressure in the blood vessels connecting the liver and lungs
- People who are experiencing a sudden serious worsening of a long-term liver condition (acute-on-chronic liver failure)
- People who have significant long-term kidney disease, specifically a kidney filtration rate at or below 30%
- People who have reduced blood flow to the heart muscle (such as a heart attack or related condition)
- People whose blood pressure is not well controlled
- People who have an irregular or abnormal heart rhythm
- People who are scheduled to receive more than one solid organ transplant at the same time
