Who might be able to join this trial:
- Women aged 18 to 45 years old who are right-handed
- People who have been diagnosed with recurrent pregnancy loss, meaning they have had 2 or more consecutive pregnancy losses before 28 weeks of pregnancy
- People who are not currently pregnant, or who are currently experiencing a missed miscarriage (where a pregnancy has been lost but the body has not yet passed it)
- People who have been diagnosed with an anxiety disorder of at least moderate severity, based on a clinical assessment score of 4 or higher on the CGI-S scale
- People whose anxiety scores are at a certain level (HAMA score of 16 or above) and whose depression scores are below a certain threshold (HAMD-17 score below 17), indicating that anxiety is the main concern rather than depression
Who may not be able to join:
- People with very unstable blood pressure — either very high (above 180 mmHg systolic) or very low (below 90 mmHg systolic)
- People with significant other physical health conditions, such as an overactive thyroid, a history of irregular heart rhythms (atrial fibrillation), an abnormally slow heart rate, major neurological conditions, stroke-related conditions, or severe lung disease
- People assessed by a psychiatrist as having a significant risk of suicide that would make study participation unsafe
- People with other serious mental health diagnoses, including substance use disorder, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, delusional disorder, psychotic disorders, or delirium
- People who have taken certain mental health medications — including antidepressants, anti-anxiety medications, or antipsychotic tablets — in the past 4 weeks; or fluoxetine (an antidepressant) in the past 6 weeks; or long-acting injectable antipsychotic medications in the past 3 months
