Who might be able to join this trial:

  • Adults between 18 and 65 years of age.
  • People who have been diagnosed with meralgia paraesthetica (MP) — a nerve condition causing burning pain, tingling, or numbness in the outer thigh — based on their symptoms and a physical examination.
  • People whose symptoms have been present continuously for at least 3 months.
  • People whose pain is rated at least 4 out of 10 on a standard pain scale at the start of the trial.

Who may not be able to join:

  • People whose MP has been caused by a known underlying cause such as pelvic surgery, a physical injury, or a tumour shown on imaging.
  • People who have significant nerve pain coming from the lower spine (at the L1–L2 level).
  • People who have a blood clotting disorder or who are currently taking blood-thinning medications.
  • People who are pregnant.
  • People who have a skin condition or active skin infection in the area where treatment would be applied.
  • People who have a cardiac pacemaker.
  • People who have severe difficulties with memory, thinking, or understanding (confirm with trial site).
