Who might be able to join this trial:
- People aged 18 years or older.
- People who have a confirmed or suspected tumour in one of these areas: the head of the pancreas, the ampulla (where the bile duct meets the small intestine), the lower part of the bile duct, the duodenum (upper small intestine), or people with a pancreatic neuroendocrine tumour or a cyst-like growth in the pancreas called IPMN.
- People whose tumour appears removable by surgery based on scans done before the operation.
- People who are reasonably physically active and able to carry out daily activities, as measured by a standard health scale called the ECOG score (rated 0–2, meaning fully active to capable of self-care).
- People considered low to moderate risk for anaesthesia, as classified by a standard medical rating system (ASA class I–III).
- People who are willing and able to give their informed consent to take part.
Who may not be able to join:
- People who need emergency surgery.
- People who have had previous surgery on the pancreas.
- People who need other major abdominal procedures performed at the same time.
- People considered high or very high risk for anaesthesia (ASA class IV or above).
- People whose cancer has already spread to other parts of the body, detected before surgery.
- People whose tumour is too advanced locally to be surgically removed.
- People who have an active infection or signs of serious infection (sepsis) at the time of surgery.
- People with serious heart or lung conditions that would make major surgery unsafe.
- People who are pregnant.
- People whose surgery would require removal of the entire pancreas, removal of only the tail/body portion of the pancreas, or removal of a single tumour while leaving the pancreas otherwise intact (confirm with trial site).
