Who might be able to join this trial:
- You must be 18 years of age or older (there is no maximum age limit)
- You must have been recently diagnosed with multiple myeloma (within the last 12 months) and your doctors have decided it is time to start treatment
- You must either not be a suitable candidate for a stem cell transplant according to your hospital's guidelines, or you have chosen not to have a stem cell transplant

- You may not be able to join if your multiple myeloma has spread to your brain or spinal cord, or if it has done so in the past
- You may not be able to join if you have a related but different blood condition, such as plasma cell leukemia, Waldenstrom's macroglobulinemia, POEMS syndrome, or a significant form of amyloidosis (confirm with trial site)
- You may not be able to join if you have been diagnosed with another type of cancer in the past
- You may not be able to join if you currently have an infection that is not under control
