Who might be able to join this trial:

• Adults aged 18 to 75 years
• People who have been diagnosed with carpal tunnel syndrome
• People for whom a corticosteroid (steroid) injection into the wrist has been recommended by the investigating doctor
• People whose carpal tunnel syndrome is rated as moderate to severe, based on a pain score of 4 or higher out of 10 on a standard pain scale (measured at the start of the trial)
• People who have given their written agreement to take part

Who may not be able to join:

• People with a known allergy to corticosteroids (steroid medications) or povidone-iodine (also known as Betadine, a common antiseptic)
• People who have a suspected or active infection, either in the body generally or specifically in the wrist area
• People who have had an injection into the affected wrist in the past 6 months
• People who have muscle wasting at the base of the thumb (a sign of advanced nerve damage)
• People who have a wrist injury that requires surgery or immobilisation (such as a cast or splint)
• People who have previously had surgery for carpal tunnel syndrome
• People who are under legal guardianship or a formal protection arrangement
• People who are under judicial protection (confirm with trial site)
• People who are currently deprived of their liberty
• People who are not enrolled in a social security scheme (confirm with trial site)
• Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding
• People who are currently participating in another drug trial
