Who might be able to join this trial:

• People who are pregnant with one baby (not twins or more)
• People whose pregnancy screening results — including an ultrasound, blood tests, and medical history from the first trimester — show a greater than 1 in 150 chance of developing a serious blood pressure condition called preeclampsia
• People who are less than 16 weeks pregnant at the time of joining the trial
• People who are 18 years of age or older
• People who are willing and able to sign a written consent form agreeing to take part
• People who can be reached by phone and have a stable place to live, so that follow-up appointments are possible

Who may not be able to join:

• People who are pregnant with more than one baby (such as twins or triplets)
• People who are already taking aspirin regularly for another medical condition
• People whose baby has been found to have a serious physical abnormality on ultrasound
• People who have a medical reason that makes it unsafe to take aspirin or a blood-thinning injection called low molecular weight heparin — such as a known allergy to either medication, an active stomach ulcer, a bleeding or clotting disorder, a very low platelet count, recent or ongoing significant bleeding, or a history of a specific reaction to heparin called heparin-induced thrombocytopenia
• People with severe kidney failure (confirm with trial site)
• People who are not able to provide written informed consent
• People who are unlikely to be able to attend follow-up — for example, those living in very remote areas without phone access or in temporary housing
