Who may be able to join
- Adults aged 18 or older at the time of signing the consent form, of any gender.
- People who have been confirmed through lab testing (from a tissue or cell sample) to have extensive-stage small cell lung cancer (a type of lung cancer that has spread widely).
- People whose cancer has continued to grow or spread after receiving exactly one previous treatment, which must have included both an immune checkpoint drug (a PD-(L)1 inhibitor) and a standard two-drug chemotherapy combination containing platinum.
- People who have at least one area of cancer that can be measured on scans according to standard criteria, and that has not been previously treated with radiation.
- People with brain metastases (cancer that has spread to the brain) that are either causing no symptoms, or that have been treated and have had stable symptoms for at least 4 weeks.
- People whose general physical functioning is rated as 0 or 1 on a standard medical scale, meaning they are either fully active or have mild limitations but are able to carry out light activity (confirm with trial site).
- People with an estimated life expectancy of at least 12 weeks.
- People whose blood, liver, kidney, and clotting function meet specific levels on lab tests, without having received blood transfusions or certain blood-boosting treatments in the 2 weeks before the first dose — specific values include: sufficient white blood cells, platelets, and haemoglobin; liver enzyme and protein levels within acceptable ranges; kidney function above a minimum threshold; and normal blood clotting measures (confirm with trial site for exact values).
- Women who could become pregnant, and men whose partners could become pregnant, who agree to use effective medical contraception from the time of signing the consent form until 6 months after the last dose of the study treatment.
- People who are willing to take part voluntarily, can provide written consent, and are able to attend required visits and follow study procedures.
Who may not be able to join
Each point below is a reason the trial team may not be able to accept someone. It is not a list of requirements to meet.
- People who have taken part in another clinical drug trial within the 4 weeks before enrolling.
- People whose tumour is considered by the treating doctor to carry a high risk of major bleeding into the airways.
- People who have previously received anti-angiogenic therapy (drugs that target blood vessel growth in tumours) as part of their cancer treatment.
- People who have previously been treated with drugs that target a protein called TROP2, or with a type of chemotherapy called topoisomerase I inhibitors.
- People who have had another cancer in the past 5 years, except for certain skin cancers or early-stage cervical cancer that have been fully treated.
- People with a known allergy or sensitivity to any of the study drugs or their ingredients.
- People with a known HIV infection, a history of AIDS, or a known active syphilis infection.
- People who have previously received a transplanted organ or transplanted stem cells from another person.
- People who have received a live vaccine within 30 days before the first dose of the study treatment.
- People with a history of certain lung conditions, including: past or current interstitial lung disease or non-infectious pneumonitis (lung inflammation) that required steroid treatment; suspected lung inflammation that cannot be ruled out by scans; a pulmonary embolism (blood clot in the lungs) within the 3 months before the first dose; severe asthma; severe chronic obstructive pulmonary disease; restrictive lung disease; significant fluid around the lungs; autoimmune or inflammatory diseases affecting the lungs (such as rheumatoid arthritis, Sjögren's syndrome, or sarcoidosis); or previous surgical removal of an entire lung.
- People with an active autoimmune disease that has required ongoing systemic (whole-body) treatment within the past 2 years — note that hormone replacement and certain routine replacement therapies are not considered systemic treatment in this context (confirm with trial site).
- People with an active infection requiring systemic (whole-body) treatment within the 2 weeks before the first dose.
- People with serious ongoing health conditions that the treating doctor believes could put them at risk or affect their ability to complete the study, such as uncontrolled high blood pressure, severe diabetes, or active infection.
- People with documented severe dry eye syndrome, severe dysfunction of the glands in the eyelids, significant inflammation of the eyelids, or a history of corneal conditions that may affect healing.
- Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding; women of childbearing potential who have a positive pregnancy test at the start of the study; or women of childbearing potential who are unwilling to use effective contraception during treatment and for 6 months after the last dose.
- People who, in the treating doctor's opinion, are unsuitable for the study for any other reason.
