Who might be able to join this trial:
For people with Parkinson's disease:
- People who have been diagnosed with Parkinson's disease according to the Movement Disorder Society's 2015 diagnostic standards
- People aged between 18 and 75 years old
- People whose Parkinson's disease is rated at any stage on the Hoehn-Yahr scale (a standard scale that measures how far the condition has progressed), from early stage (score of 2.5 or below) to mid-to-late stage (score between 2.5 and 5)
- People who are willing to have videos of their facial expressions and recordings of their speech collected
- People who have signed an informed consent form agreeing to take part
For people with related movement disorders (Multiple System Atrophy or Progressive Supranuclear Palsy):
- People aged between 18 and 75 years old
- People diagnosed with Multiple System Atrophy (MSA) according to the 2017 Chinese Expert Consensus diagnostic criteria, or with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP) according to the 2016 Chinese Clinical Diagnostic Criteria
- People who are willing to have videos of their facial expressions and recordings of their speech collected
- People who have signed an informed consent form agreeing to take part
Who may not be able to join:
- People who have a history of stroke or other blood vessel problems in the brain, head injury, a build-up of fluid in the brain, brain tumours, or previous brain surgery
- People with Parkinson's disease who have metal implants, a heart pacemaker, or any other metal objects in their body
- People with Parkinson's disease whose involuntary movements are severe enough to make it too difficult to complete the video and audio recording
- People who score 24 points or below on a standard short memory and thinking test called the Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE)
