Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who have been diagnosed with postherpetic neuralgia (long-lasting nerve pain that remains after a shingles infection) affecting the neck, chest, or back regions
- People aged between 18 and 80 years old
- People whose pain has continued even after trying standard treatments
- People whose pain is rated above 5 out of 10 on a standard pain scale at the start of the trial
Who may not be able to join:
- People whose postherpetic neuralgia affects the eye area or the arms and legs
- People who have a known allergy to local anaesthetic medicines
- People who are pregnant
- People who have a blood clotting disorder or who are currently taking blood-thinning or antiplatelet medications
- People whose cognitive (thinking or memory) difficulties would prevent them from being able to give informed consent to take part
